Food Trays

This project started when I was in Japan at a cafe and they served dessert on a simple tray that I liked. I took a few pictures and sketched out what I wanted to build.

I started with a prototype version to practice making mitered edges and also to see how my planned cut order and approach worked. Several things didn’t go as planned, which led to pretty wide gaps in the miters, a loosely seated bottom, and some tearout in the splines. Thankfully I was able to correct/improve those all in the final products.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with these, though there are definite imperfections / things to work on for next time!
